Begur House - New construction

Proyect

When I went to visit the idyllic plot of land on the outskirts of Begur, in the Baix Empordà, I was fascinated by the impressive views of Cala de Sa Riera, which quickly gave rise to one of our main objectives, to create a home where we could enjoy them.

We were in one of the most famous areas of Catalonia to spend the summer, so we had to take into account that during a few months of the year we could not carry out the work, this, together with other demands from the owner, made us opt for a industrialized construction which led us to gain a lot of work time. The company chosen to build the house had several standardized models that allowed for certain interior customizations, but not many at the structural level, which helped us quickly get in touch with the town hall to be able to process the pertinent licenses, and during that time to study the spaces and interior finishes. When the city council gave us the green light, we were able to put the house into operation and only 3 months later it was already in place, facing the Medes and the sea!

Once the structure was created, all that remained was to carry out the interior finishes, which we commissioned from the same company, and think about the urbanization work on the plot, which was carried out by a local company.

Dealing with two such different work teams was a great challenge because, although it is true that their areas of action were very different, everything had to be perfectly coordinated since one area did not work without the other. Added to all this is the complexity of thed It is a typical level of these lands that meant that any material required for the work had to be raised with a crane.

Regarding the interior design, we agreed with the professionals that the house had to breathe an atmosphere of the sea everywhere, but without forgetting that it was going to be inhabited throughout the year, therefore we had to find that balance between summer light and the winter warmth. In addition, the owner had some antique furniture that we restored and managed to integrate perfectly, giving the space that personal touch that is so important in any home.

Having opted for this construction model, we achieved a super efficient house at an energy level (B) without giving up anything in terms of comfort, with an aerothermal system that provided heat in winter and cold in summer.

To make this reform we need the intervention of an architect and a quantity surveyor.
